The newly turfed tees at hole 7 on the Balcomie course are knitting in really well and will need their first cut very soon, work on the tee path has been put on hold during the Coronavirus lock-down
We have managed to cut most of the main playing areas last week before the Coronavirus lock-down
From the 24th March we only have 2 members of the green-keeping team working to carry out only essential tasks to keep both the courses and driving range ticking over until the lock-down is finished, all other staff have been furlough'd for their safety under the Government guidelines this will continue till the end of April when the situation will be reviewed
We managed to complete our 2 last bunker rebuilds on the Craighead course at green 2

We will continue to water any new turf during this dry spell
The back right bunker on hole 2 of the Craighead course

The guys have done a brilliant job getting these completed
We have carried out major aeration work to the 11th green on Craighead due to the motorbike vandalism to aid in the full recovery - the green was deep hollow-cored then double scarified to reduce thatch levels and make a seed bed for us to over seed and heavy top-dress with sand

The green cored and double scarified
It's first cut since the damage to reduce any stress on the surfaces, motorbike damage healing well
3 tons of sand to help fill in the core holes and scarifying lines, we will water in then apply seed and more sand
We should see really good recovery in 4 weeks

Please everyone stay safe

We have been out spraying the Craighead course fairways with soluble iron to help reduce the moss
Last week we carried out cutting to most areas over both the courses as it was dry enough after the wet February
The Craighead course greens were deep spiked to help drainage and allow better air movement through the profile
minimum disturbance to the surfaces after the greens were rolled
The 7th tee project on the Balcomie course is ready for the surfaces to be turfed
 surfaces all re-leveled
Railway sleeper work completed on the tee side, ready for the bench and new recycling bin
the tee surface starting to be re-turfed, this will be completed by the end of this week weather pending
the other side of the path will have a row of Railway sleepers along it to finish this edge off
Absolutely devastated to report that we have had vandalism to our 11th green on the Craighead course from a man on a motorbike

work is ongoing to try and fix the surface best we can by forking up, spiking, over seeding and top-dressing the damaged areas
These areas will take up to 2/3 months to fully recover
