The green side bunker at hole 6 finished and topped up with fresh sand

We had to extend the irrigation pipe on the 10th medal tee with raising the surface height
We have marked out all the areas for the new road etc for the new toilets, this work will be ongoing for the next few weeks

Wednesday 25 January 2017

We are still having to cut greens more than usual at this time of year as the weather is mild

Trench work is now completed for the new electric cable for the new toilets on the Balcomie course

The start of landscaping the surrounding area of the new toilets

The Balcomie course is on it's mid week winter closure, so we are out slit tining fairways again to relieve compaction
We have rebuilt both ends and edged the 6th Green side bunker on the Balcomie course and added 5" of sand
Work has started on raising, levelling and extending the 10th medal tee on the Balcomie course

Monday 16 January 2017

The green staff finishing off work to the 16th tee path today as we were delayed because of the adverse weather on Friday
This week we are carrying out aeration work to the Craighead course tees to help surface drainage
The high winds with the high tides through the night on Thursday brought seaweed up on to the course at holes 4 & 5 on the Balcomie course, which will all be raked and cleaned up back down onto the beach

Friday 13 January 2017

We have moved the tee bin and ball washer at tee 12 on the Craighead course to help protect it from the high winds and give more room for golfers plus tried to give it a link's feel with using old Railway sleepers

The 16th tee path on the Craighead course is getting edged and cut out to make it wider for golf buggies etc
We caught up with any irrigation issues we had on the Balcomie course
Bunker at 6th green on the Craighead course finished
We have replaced our airlines and nozzles on our shoe cleaner with heavy duty parts to be more hard wearing in our climate
We have been lucky today and escaped the heavy snow, with only a very light dusting through the night

Tuesday 10 January 2017

Welcome to 2017

It's all go with the good weather. The Craighead course is on it's mid week closure to allow us to carry out solid tining to the greens to a depth of 3.5"

 8mm solid tine used
All greens and surrounds were cut then a medium top-dressing of sand applied to help dilute thatch and firm the surfaces up, Steven is being trained on the use of our top-dresser
The top-dressing sand is left for at least an hour to fully dry before rubbing in
All our areas of deep rough that has been cut and collected over both courses has been raked again to help thin the grass sward right to the base of the plant
With the Craighead course closed, we are rebuilding the first green side bunker at 6
Work at the new toilets on the Balcomie course is still ongoing with another trench being dug to supply the building with electric, hopefully the cable will be laid at the end of this week
