15th bunker completed on the Balcomie course
Slit tining on the Balcomie course fairways to a depth of 7" the more air we can get into the soil structure the better especially with this wet weather we have been having

16th bunkers on the Craighead course completed
We are making a new path down from the 17th tees on the Balcomie course, this should make it safer for golfers as this bank can be very wet and slippy as at the 1st

Tuesday 29 January 2013

This week we have the Balcomie course closed for rest and winter work, so we are rebuilding the worn corner on the 15th greenside bunker
Back to building new path onto the 1st fairway, we started this before Christmas to allow the soil to settle before completing
Other bunker is the 16th greenside, which we have a real problem with rabbits digging in it so we have laid Material and wire to help stop digging and stones mixing in with the sand

At last a break in the weather so we have managed to get back to working on the rebuilding of the 16th greenside bunkers on the Craighead course. Other jobs have been raking bunkers when possible, gritting car parks, mixing soil and painting ball washers etc

Monday 14 January 2013

Today we set up the corer ready for solid tining greens later in the week and tidied up top shed first thing until the weather cleared then raked bunkers, moved tee markers and divoted tees on the Balcomie course, then after we got back to rebuilding the 16th bunker on the Craighead course
Also we started the rebuilding of the other 16th greenside bunker, cutting the harder growing fairways and divoting tees/empty bins/trimming holes on the Craighead course

Happy New Year to you all, sorry no photo's problem with the blog site

Balcomie course - This week we have been cutting or rolling greens daily with the mild/damp weather, raking bunkers and moving tee markers daily too other jobs were to cut the surrounds, finish off spraying fairways with iron, divoting tees, digging out drain outfalls as they were blocked from the high tides at hole 5 and verti-draining walkways

Craighead course - This week this course is closed for rest and for winter projects, so we have been rebuilding the 16th greenside bunker, digging out the newly rebuilt bunker at the 3rd to make a much bigger soak away to help reduce flooding and making the 18th fairway bunker into 2 as this will help stop the wind blowing the sand out the bunker, other jobs have been verti-draining tees which we had to stop after the rain on Monday, cutting greens and surrounds then these areas being sprayed with iron and potassium nitrate also we have made a start to cutting the drier fairways as hairy with this mild weather
