Today we have Fife Golfing Association Tri Am on Fife team V's USA & Canada under 18's, so tasks today were to cut greens, change holes and set up tee markers, rake bunkers I was hoping to roll greens but had a member of staff call in sick first thing so we had to drop that job after course set up I had a meeting with the staff to go over any points from the Greens Committee meeting last night that I attended then all on strimming work keeping away from the golf matches the greens are still running at 9' on the stimp

11th greenside bunkers
Today's tasks were cutting greens with a perimeter cut, spray greens behind cutter with wetting agent and liquid iron, move tee markers, cut greenside bunker faces then after break we raked all fairway bunkers, finished of cutting greenside bunker faces, spot spray any weeds reappearing on the surrounds and stimped the greens which they are running at 8' 11" which is not bad considering the rain we have had this week plus it was a damp cut this morning

This morning we have been trying out the new Jacobsen Eclipse hybrid mower which we have on demo for a few days, we switched off the middle unit and only used the 2 front units to give us a hand cut affect by straddling your last cut line this was possible because the mower is all electric so you can switch each cutting unit off independently, to cut all 18 greens took another 50minutes on top of our usual time, other jobs were applying a preventative fungicide to the greens on Thursday night so the greens were only rolled on Friday then raked all bunkers, moved tee markers, cut fairways on the front 9 and collected balls from the range before the rain came which we have had another 31mm since Thursday

Thick harr
13th green & surround 10minutes after all being cut and already a dew
This week we have been starting at 4am as the courses are fully booked with the Open being at St Andrews, so jobs today were to cut greens with no perimeter cut, cut surrounds, change holes, cut tees, move tee markers for cutter, divot tees and empty bins then after break jobs were to edge fairway yardage discs and trim irrigation boxes these jobs should hopefully not get in the way of the golfers, we had 25mm of rain last night which has left a couple of areas slightly flooded this morning, the greens are stimping at 9' which is great in these weather conditions

This morning we have had 3mm of rain through the night and it looks like we are going to get more, tasks today were cutting greens, raking bunkers, changing holes and setting up the markers for the Competition ( Summer Meeting) also we stimped the greens which are running at 9' which is good for a wet surface, the only problem this morning was we got a puncture on the greens mower with only 2 greens to cut typical!!

We allowed the players on Tuesday to practise from the turf in front of the mats, so after we raked up all the divots cut the area to clean it up then gave it a heavy top-dressing to smooth off the surface
This morning we shut the driving range so we could collect all the balls and cut as next week the range has to be kept open as it's so busy with the Open at St Andrews so next cut will be a week on Tuesday, other jobs today were to cut greens with triple with no perimeter cut, rake all bunkers and check tee markers etc we have done well today as we are 2 staff down plus it was meant to be rain first thing

PGA Scottish region 2010 Pro-Captain challenge being played today so our jobs first thing were to cut greens, change holes, rake all bunkers, finish off cutting bunkers and finish semi-roughs in front of the golfers our plans were to roll greens behind cutter but the officials said the greens were fast enough as they were running at 9' 7", yesterday was a busy day for us as we cut all fairways, greens, surrounds, tees, 4" roughs and most of the semi-roughs for today
Thursday, 1 July 2010
We are carrying out our weekly cutting of greens daily, tees and surrounds twice a week, semi-roughs and 4" roughs weekly etc extra jobs have been hand watering high spots on greens, spiking greens and spraying selective on gorse areas on holes 15, 16 & 17 . the course is really browning up now so we have been using the irrigation system at nights to keep a little moisture in the profile another job we have started is to top certain areas of deep rough and collect the clippings to starve these areas hoping to have a less dense sward
