Club Championship

It's been a really busy time for the staff with holding the Club championship the last 2 weekends, but all went well and the courses are starting to really green up with the rain that we are receiving, the complete opposite from this time last year when we were in a 3 month drought period
Greens being cut & turf ironed, with the higher rainfall we are trying to turf iron slightly more to help the surface speeds as they will naturally slow down due to the higher growth rate
The Craighead course toilets have now been painted since all the outside wood was replaced
The Craighead tees being cut & sprayed a fertiliser and selective herbicide to help control weeds
Polishing up fairways
At last our new machines have arrived, 1 of these has been on order since October 2021 which is nearly 2 years in the waiting and the other was 16 months
This week since the Club championship has passed, we have been out carrying out light aeration work to greens over both courses & PG's to spike down to 25mm to help open up the surfaces
minimal disturbance on the surface and you can hardly tell once the greens are cut
The Craighead greens were due there low rate granular fertiliser application this week straight after the spiking
We are starting to see good recovery in some of our weaker fairways on the Balcomie course, where we lost grass due to last years drought, we have been working on over seeding and sanding and keeping these areas soaked plus a light application of fertilisers & seaweeds

Our new rain trains are really helping with keeping these areas soaked to help the recovery
surfaces starting to fill in on these fairways
