Re levelling of the railway sleepers and with adding another sleeper making the bridge much safer with our larger machine crossing etc
As this area is a traffic bottle neck we have added more rubber matting to help reduce the wear and it will not be long for the grass to grow through

Today was catching up with jobs from last week that we could not carry out because of the frosts ie slit tining, cutting then top-dressing the greens & surrounds on the Balcomie course
Perfect day to get sand down with the light winds to help dry before rubbing in
Rebuilding and reinstating it to its original shape of the 18th bunker short right of the green on the Balcomie course

With the hard frost this week plus staff members being away at BTME (Greenkeeping Conference) it was a great chance to continue the improvements to our shed by painting the walls and installing 3 additional LED lights
Another issue we are improving is that before the golf club owned our shed it was used for storing Lobsters in water bays so when the bays we taken down it caused slight damage to the floor so this week was another great chance to cement any slight damage etc. Jobs on the courses were to check for frost, move tee markers daily and with the frost lifting on Thursday it allowed us on Friday to cut greens, rake bunkers and course set up and repair/clean up rabbit damage over both courses

This week we have been really lucky with the weather compared to the rest of Scotland, we did have winds over 50mph yesterday which resulted in a couple of pins broken and the odd bit of course furniture blown over etc, jobs continued as in finishing verti-draining tee then slit tining fairways on the Craighead course
Blowing/cleaning car parks and shoe cleaner area and finishing off the turfing of tees 2 & 11 on the Balcomie course
Inside jobs were to make a start to painting OB posts, tee benches and painting the shed walls to help improve the lighting and presentation of the shed, next week we will be hoping to add another 3 lights as well to improve lighting

The Craighead course is on it's second week of closure for maintenance so we have been out verti-draining tees with a 16mm solid tine to a depth of 6" to help relieve compaction and help surface drainage
Today we got our delivery of turf for both the 2nd & 11th tees on the Balcomie course so hopefully these tees will be completed tomorrow weather pending

Happy New Year to you all and I hope you had a nice Christmas. This week the Craighead course is closed for maintenance, so tasks are to hollow core the 3rd surround to help it drain better then we will top-dress when we apply top-dressing to the greens after solid tining
Rebuilding the left bunker at green 9
Solid tining greens with a 8mm tine to a depth of 50mm, this will help allow the surface to dry out and relieve compaction
Rebuilding of the 15th fairway bunker
On the Balcomie course was to cut & turf iron greens, rake bunkers, move/divot/bins on tees and clean winter mats. This has been the first cut on the greens in nearly 3 weeks since we applied a light top-dressing
