We were continuing with our maintenance on the Craighead course which was verti-draining tees, topdressing surrounds and rubbing in, digging out old sand/edging and replacing with new sand at greenside bunkers on holes 9 & 12 other jobs were raking bunkers and checking the Balcomie course,closing all irrigation valves and priming up the systems ready for the season plus our newly turfed areas are starting to dry out which we can water now if need be and start to clean/trim irrigation sprinklers

The Craighead course closed this week to complete aeration and drainage works.Work on Balcomie course today was roll greens, rake bunkers, move tee markers and re-turfing any worn areas

Other jobs were to tidy shed, clean mess room etc and clean burn on the Balcomie course

Thats the last bunker to be rebuilt this winter at the 8th Balcomie course complete, Today we had a Medal on the Craighead course so greens were turf ironed, holes changed and tee markers moved and bunkers raked

Balcomie course closed this week for winter maintenance which is verti-draining tees, solid tining greens which was meant to be completed last week but had problems with corer all fixed now, moving 4th ladies tee sprinkler to edge of tee and re-levelling and turfing, digging up old matting at ends of paths and re installing and turfing. Craighead course is open so jobs were to vibrate roll greens, rake bunkers and move tee markers then over to Balcomie course




We have put in a gravel band at bottom of 18th path to allow water to drain away

8th bunker on its way to be completed Monday as today was getting both courses set up for the weekend which consisted of raking all bunkers, moving and divoting tees, emptying bins, turf ironing greens Balcomie course, vibrate roll greens Craighead course, changing holes then at the end of day cleaning mess room etc, filling in potholes in road and laying the dance floor at the Clubhouse

Today we finished off slit tining fairways, carried on working at 8th bunker, sprayed greens & surrounds on the Craighead course with iron, hollow cored the putting green and re opened the toilet block on the course so hopefully no hard frosts lol

We had the mid week medal on the Craighead course today so we turf ironed greens, changed holes, moved tee markers and raked bunkers then all staff over to the Balcomie course to cut greens, cut surrounds, spray greens and surrounds with iron, slit tine fairways and carry on working at 8th bunkers

The Balcomie course closed this week for maintenance which include rebuilding 12th greenside bunker, 8th greenside bunkers, new fairway bunker at 8th, solid tining greens and slit tining fairways

Today was First Aid training for all the staff and yesterday we had Elmwood students from Finland down for a tour of the courses and sheds

Today we carried on solid tining greens but had to stop as we had a break down, hopefully new parts will be with us first thing tomorrow other jobs were to start verti-draining our tees and edging/weeding and topping up all the tee paths
