This week we have been carrying out the usual cutting program with extra turf ironing on the greens to help speed up the playing surface extra jobs have been to investigate any irrigation problems and fix, spraying weedkiller on tee paths etc
The bunker rear of the 7th green has been targeted by rabbits lately so we are trying out a rag soaked with diesel to see if this stops them causing damage an old trick I was told about
Yesterday I attended a demo at St Andrews Links on building bunkers with recycled astro turf instead of turf

Tony spiking greens in front of cutting and turf ironing
Nick spraying greens behind the boys with wetting agent and liquid iron
We have now re-turfed and levelled off the area at green 6 where we had our irrigation burst
After Tony finished spiking greens he went onto slit tining tees which should be completed tomorrow, this should help relieve any compaction on these areas
Other jobs were to spray bunker faces and strimming work with a growth regulator, cut driving range and set up junior course etc and machine maintenance

Yesterday we cut our tees, divoted tees, cut greens, changed holes for ladies medal then cut fairways and surrounds
We have now fixed the burst at the 6th green it was a cracked saddle joint which comes off the main pipe to the sprinkler swing joint but I don't think we will need to use it with the weather forecast for this weekend, jobs today were to rake all bunkers, cut green, collect balls, move tee markers, empty tee bins and top-up ball washers, finish off fairways then it was all staff on strimming work after break and we managed to top-dress the drainage lines at hole 5 again

Cutting tees
divoting and putting tee markers back behind cutter, the reason we divot behind cutter so not to blunt the cutting units with the divot mix or lift seed
Today we had a Lombard corporate day which was a 2 tee start at the 1st and 10th so course set up was to rake bunkers, cut aprons, cut and iron greens, cut tees and divot tees, the holes were changed yesterday and luckily the weather was not to bad today breezy with a couple of shower in the afternoon a lot better than yesterday
